Technical: VoIP Engineer

Description of Duties

• Responsible for the architecture, design, and implementation of advanced IP telephony services to Business customers.
• Ability to properly evaluate, test, and scale LAN/WAN environments for the addition of VoIP and ensure the interoperability with existing switching and secure fire walling.
• Design Small/Medium/Enterprise scale call flow scenarios including: auto attendants, call centers, hunt groups, reception consoles, basic/advanced call flow.
• End user VoIP training.
• Advanced Network/VoIP troubleshooting.
• Provide exceptional 1st and 2nd level customer support.

Experience Required

• 2 or more years experience in small, medium, and large scale network environments.
• Advanced networking knowledge:
  • IP Routing
  • Network switching
  • Firewall configurations
  • Network connectivity
  • DHCP
  • BIND DNS (public and private)
  • TFTP
  • FTP
• Experience and understanding of enterprise level call flow.
• Strong knowledge of conventional telephony infrastructure.
• Proven track record of delivering complex software/hardware projects on schedule.
• Ability to work within cross-functional teams on a complex project.
• Knowledge of SIP and RTP protocols, both as defined in the standards and as used in practice.
• Excellent oral and written skills.
• Extremely process oriented.

Experience Preferred

• SIP, RTP; G.711 & G729 compression codecs
• Red Hat Enterprise Linux

Education Required

• BS in Computer Sciences and/or equivalent hands-on experience
