Metro Expo, a nationwide tradeshow production company (with locations in New Jersey, Las Vegas and Toronto), provides exhibitor and exposition services including exhibit rentals, material handling, graphics, AV services and more.

Business Challenge:

Metro Expo had some unique needs as its CIO required highly customizable technology – for example, the way in which its hunt groups were architected. The company required a flexible solution that would allow for customization with regards to the CIO’s “out of the box” way of thinking, especially when it came to the company’s communications.

Solution: Alteva’s Hosted VoIP and UC (OCS feature)

Alteva provided Metro Expo with hosted VoIP and Unified Communications (UC) to streamline its communication, and improve business efficiencies and productivity. A previous VoIP customer, Metro Expo was already familiar with the flexibility and robustness of a hosted VoIP system, but really liked Alteva’s new and exciting UC products including Office Communications Server (OCS) at reasonable costs.

OCS integrates with Microsoft Outlook and Metro Expo’s phone system, allowing users to see each other’s presence - whether on a call, in a meeting, out of the office or busy – the solution allows for real-time communication and an increase in productivity across the company. Metro Expo employees are made aware of another user’s communications status and can make an outreach attempt at the proper time with a colleague -- no more time is wasted waiting for email replies, making calls or walking over to another person’s desk to find out they are not available.

Despite employing a very diverse mix of generations, Metro Expo’s team members are able to use OCS right out of the gate. Even the less tech savvy users are drawn to the product because the tech savvy individuals will communicate with them using OCS, encouraging the less tech savvy to embrace the technology. Metro Expo is hoping that it will pave the way towards a more tech savvy environment across the board.
